Re: Building Australian WW2 Impression
Pretty well got both my Western Desert and Jungle 2nd AIF impressions complete. All the webbing sourced was either brand new old stock and dated to near mint issued. My SMLE is 1942 dated with a clean bore. All i need now are the Aussie brown boots, a set of US leggings and a Slouch hat. Even managed to get origional rising sun badge with the Kings Crown and a WW2 Puggaree.
Looking forwards to the Kokoda 42 event later on this year.
Heinrich or should i say Damo Mc Dowall

I would agree with the statement greg Ameys repro p37 webbing is crap.
Original P37 webbing is still available new un issued so please do not buy repro items. Canadian and British manufactured webbing is in plentiful supply and most of what I bought was war time dated unissued
Ask before you buy make the most of other people's experience

Mitch, Greg Amey has a stall at gun shows as well as at HA, and he also has a Facebook page called Aussie Digger Militaria. But i wouldn't recommend his repro gear, it all looks very cheap and very crap.

Greg Amey sells WW2 AIF jungle greens also at a reasonable price. The shorts i bought were mint surplus not repros at around $35 a pair.

Just had a look on what price glory and they have the jungle greens pants and shirts they would have used. Which helps since they are supposed to be hard to find

Excellent stuff Gents - I feel we need to ramp up this area - btw I may have some australian wool tunics for sale soon (need to check them) I have tried to get an australian impression for a while but even though a couple of re-trys with size can't get the tunic to fit (shoulders have been too small or gut too large).

If your doing 42 pacific you will need to work out whether your going militia (The early army reserve) or regular army. Militia's equipment was a bit rag tag consisting of hand me downs from ww1 era gear to the newer stuff issued to the regs. I'll have a dig around one of the neighboring reserve units that had men go over to png and fight and see what I can dig up for you.

Don't do the Pacific man, that place sucks. It's hot, it's muggy, and there are Japs everywhere! Come do North Africa with me and Dermot

Building Australian WW2 Impression
Hi all,
I have decided that the next impression I want to do is 1942 Australian Infantry In Papua New Guinea. Could anyone give many any sites on where to buy my gear and check the authenticity of the gear I already have.
Cheers Mitch.
